Q: How do I configure my iPhone for MIT E-mail?
There are different ways to set up email accounts on the iPhone. During the activation process, the iTunes software may pick up your MIT email setting on your laptop/desktop computer, and the correct settings for MIT E-mail may be transferred over to the iPhone. Otherwise, the settings need to be entered manually.
The instructions below describe methods to set up MIT E-Mail manually:
# Go to *Home* Screen on the device.
# Open *Settings* and open *Mail*.
# Open *Add Account* and select *Other*.
# Choose *IMAP*.
# Enter the following information under *IMAP*:
## *Name*: Your full name
## *Address*: Your MIT e-mail address
## *Description*: The default value is the email address. The description can be changed to any (e.g. MIT Email)
## *Incoming Mail Server*
### *Host Name*: enter *username.mail.mit.edu* (username = your MIT user name)
### *User Name*: Your MIT/Kerberos username (without "@mit.edu")
### *Password*: Your MIT email password
## *Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)*
### *Host Name*: enter *outgoing.mit.edu:587*
### *User Name*: Your MIT/Kerberos username (without "@mit.edu")
### *Password:* Your MIT email password

### Tap the *Save* button at the the top of the screen.
### You will receive a "Secure Connection Failed" pop-up, press Continue.

## Mail screen should now be opened with the MIT email account shown in the list.
# Select the MIT Email account and scroll to the bottom of the screen. Tap *Advanced*.
