Voice Mail to Electronic Mail
Would allow you to forward your telephone to a server that would record the callers message and deliver it to you as a .wav attachment to an email message. Possible technologies for this are Asterisk and Oracle Collaboration Suite. With an adequate server messages could also be stored for retrieval via a phone interface.
VM Rover looks like an interesting client specifically designed for voice mail.
ShuttleTrack Voice Response
Would allow you to get a voice announcement of the current location of the shuttles. An instant message alternative could also be provided.
Classroom Audio Conferencing
Would allow for the quick and inexpensive set up of audio conferences in "low tech" classrooms. Since most classrooms have MITnet connections this could be provided by with portable VoIP speakerphones. As an alternative we could provide software for faculty laptops and give them a microphone and speaker to use. Or maybe provide some sort of audio system in each classroom so you would only have to bring a laptop to the room. (Talk to Henry Jenkins - he brought up this need in the first workshop.)
