Problem Statement
Getting involved in community service is difficult both for volunteers and the organizations that need the service assistance. For volunteers, finding opportunities that suit their interests and time constraints is a cumbersome process. There is not a well structured and centralized resource to help them find out what opportunities are available. Unless the volunteer is already aware of the service he/she wants to participate in, he/she is forced to sift through flyers and mass e-mail listings to see if there is an organization he/she would like to get involved with. For organizations, promoting events and targeting the right volunteer audience is often difficult.
