Problem Statement

Robots are systems of multiple processes (sensors, controls, communication devices, actuators...) running simultaneously and asynchronously. These processes usually communicate via a shared medium consisting of multiple channels where each process can publish and subscribe to different channels. Robotic researchers need to be able to monitor this information for debugging purposes while at the same time, being sufficiently mobile on the arena to be able to interact with the robots. The current interface available for communication systems such as LCM is neither user-friendly, intuitively visible, efficient since its output is an array of floats nor mobile since it runs on a computer. The goal of this project is to design an easy-to-use graphical interface in the form of a phone-app for interaction with robots when experimenting with them.
