Install and configure XAMPP 1.7.1 for Windows
PREREQUISITES

Downloaded XAMPP 1.7.1, the Basic Package (do not use the Lite version). Besure to download the exe self-extracting RAR archive (I used xampp-win32-1.7.1-installer.exe).

Download xampp-win32-1.7.1-installer.exe directly from this page.
Overview
1. Install XAMPP 1.7.1
Execute xampp-win32-1.7.1-installer.exe and use all the default values.
