Zoom Phone allows you to simultaneously receive phone calls at your MIT phone number via your desk phone and the Zoom application. You can also choose to forward these calls to your another number with conditions (for example, to your cell phone during regular business hours).
Configuring Zoom Phone
To configure zoom phone, go to mit.zoom.us and sign in to your account.
In the Zoom settings page, select Phone from the left-hand menu.
Here you can configure business hours, voicemail greetings, and call flows.
Recommended Settings
It is recommended that you use the following settings for your Zoom Phone.
Business Hours: Enter your normal working hours +/- 30 to 60 minutes. This will allow your desk phone to ring in the event you arrive early, or if you stay late. If you stay late one day and someone needs to "call you right back", they will be directed to your voicemail if they are calling outside of these hours.
Configuration Steps
- Go to https://mit.zoom.us/
- Sign in
- Select Phone
- Under the Call Handling section, find the appropriate section (e.g. Business Hours, Closed Hours, or Holiday Hours) and click Edit > Add Audio to generate a new greeting. Use one of the text templates below, or generate your own
- Enter the dates/times this greeting should be activated for
Greeting and Voicemail Templates
- Closed/Outside Business Hours Phone Message Template — Use this greeting to play to callers after you've gone home for the day.
- Missed Call Phone Message Template — Use this greeting to play to callers where you have missed their call during active business hours.
- MIT Holiday Phone Message Template — Use this greeting to play to callers when MIT is closed for a holiday.
- Termination
- Vacation/Out Of Office Phone Template — Use this greeting to play to callers when you are out of the office for one or more days during normal business days.
