Assembly Procedures for the Hermes II Avionics Tower

Materials

Allen Key '.077'

Allen Key 'approx. 1/16' (Marked with tape)

Stanley Allen Key set key 15 (Marked with tape)

Small Flathead screwdriver

Small File

Pink Tape Small Phillips Head

Zip Ties

lock tight epoxy

 

Procedures

  1. Independent Assembly of the Tower 

    1. Put Heat Set inserts in all PLA Parts except the GPS holder (pre-integration)

    2. Attach all electronics to the outer face plates as shown in CAD

      1. Screw down all flight electronics to their respective places (ensure that screws face outward edge of rocket body)

      2. Assemble the switch and secure it into place

        1. Attach the flight hardware electrical leads to the switch

    3. Wire electrical leads to the flight hardware
    4. Attachment of Cameras by securing the holders to the Camera face plates

    5. Attach the battery holders to the two outer face plates

      1. Run the power cables to near the battery holders and fix them down using (TBD)

    6. Epoxy all bolts 
    7. When placing tower into end-cap slots ensure that the pyxida panel is on the face with the upper clocking mechanism (i.e. the block of PLA ) on the payload bulkhead 
    8. Ensure that there are no extra stressors or strains due to over screwing or part misalignment with the panel
