Nexthaus SyncJe for BlackBerry Documentation: HERE

SyncJe Client Setup via Matt Sullivan

Ideally we will have this packaged up by Nexthuas and will include Techtime URL and event directories.

Within the BlackBerry browser, press MENU, and GO TO... Enter in the following

http://www.nexthaus.com/bb/syncjebb.jad

Press the either the Return button, or the TrackBall.

The Nexthaus site should prompt you to download the SyncJe Client, highlight and click Download.

The download should start, if the download does not start check to make sure you are in good cellular coverage area. Then try the download again.

After the download has completed, a window will pop up stating "The application was successfully installed." Click RUN.

When the application has open, click MENU button. Then scroll to Settings, and click.

    • License Name and Key, this information and how it will be included is TBA ** Skipping this part

Roll the trackball down to Server URL:, and enter the following URL:

http://calendar.mit.edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/ocas-bin/sync/bin/ocas.fcgi

Now roll the trackball down to Username, and enter in your kerberos username. (Your MIT email prefix)
Now roll the trackball down to password, and enter in your kerberos password. (Your MIT email password)

Now roll the trackball down to the blue box to the left of Calendar, click the box, placing a check mark within.
Then roll the trackball to Foldername: (under Calendar). Enter in the following directory:

./calendar/events

Now roll the trackball down to the blue box, left of Sync events between: Click and place a check mark in the box.

Roll the trackball cursor to "days before sync date:" and enter 60.

Now roll the trackball cursor to "days after sync date:" and enter 90.

    • IS&T at this point, recommends syncing 60 days before and 90 days after. This range of dates tested to produced the least amount of errors during sync. The more information you have within the detail portion of a calendar event, will directly effect the amount of days you can sync. Trying to sync more then a years worth of calendar events is not recommended as the technology and capacity of the devices are still limited at this point. **

Press Menu, and Save.

Press Back.

    • Now verify that you are in a good data coverage area (verify this before all calendar synchronizations). This can be check by hitting the Home button, and looking for a 1XEV connection in the top left or right of your home screen. If you only have 1X, do not attempt to sync calendar as connection error is likely to happen. **

Open SyncJe, and click Menu.

Now click Start Sync, (this can also be down by click the Trackball button)

SyncJe is now connecting the MIT Techtime server and is synchronizing your calendar entries. (The numbers that are appearing are NOT accurate, verification of this is pending per discussion with Nexthaus)
When the sync has completed, you will receive a Session Complete messages. Press Menu, Press Ok, to return to the SyncJe window. To verify how many events were synced.

Click Menu, and scroll to View Log.
