MIT Open - Meeting Notes 11/29/17

Peter, Rob, Mark

1. We reviewed UX Strategy Deck

2. We reviewed the 3 stories in order to determine precisely what pages we want to test.

3. We honed in on the following as candidates for the clickable prototype:

Ramon:

    1. Arrives on home page and explores what it contains
    2. Performs search and explores search result
    3. Finds an appealing course and signs up

Hsu

    1. Arrives on theme page and explore what it contains
    2. Visits specific detail page and notes recommendations
    3. Explores other members and wants to make connections
    4. Signs up for notifications

4. We decided that the primary goals of the test will be to focus on the following questions:

  • Do they understand the concept of MIT Open in general and of the specific page they're visiting?
  • Does the experience resonate and appeal to them?
  • Do they understand what they can do on any particular page - what are the possibilities?

5. We decided that the nature of the test will be to

  • Present a series of pages
  • Narrate the user through a focused series of tasks.
  • Pose open-ended and task-based questions at each stage of the test – (what can you do here? what do you think? would you use this? how would you...?)

6. We decided that the current sketches are directionally accurate – they contain the elements that we want to test – but we may want to:

  • Shift levels of visual emphasis or hierarchy on the overall page, in order to clarify primary goals for each page – for example, make search bigger, or increase presence of people / members on page.
  • Reconsider some details around specific page elements – like the proportions and elements of a "card"

7. We decided that we want to keep more or less the same level of "high-fidelity"

Any other thoughts?...
