Purpose
Objective
- To exert a force greater than the competition and pull the opposing robot a set distance
Gameboard and Setup
- Gameboard layout:
- Center line to mark the placement of the ribbon
- Two lines parallel to the center line and offset by 12 inches
Rules
- One team member may place their robots at opposite ends of the arena and attach the rope to their bots (the rope can be connected in any manner, as seen fit by the team)
- The committee will make final positioning and adjustments to ensure proper set up
- Bots will autonomously start the competition when the horn is sounded
- A winner will be declared when the ribbon on the rope is pulled across the 12 inch line on their side
- The rope will be 2 feet in length
Scoring
- The competition will be a tournament style bracket, single elimination, with points awarded depending on when a team exits the tournament
- There are three potential outcomes to a match: win, lose, or tie
- A tie occurs if two minutes have passed and there is no clear winner
- In the event of a tie, the judges will use their discretion to determine a winner based on the movement of the ribbon
- If a bot drops the rope, a 5 point deduction will be assessed.
- If a bot drops the rope twice in the same match, it will result in a disqualification
- The team member will have two minutes to set up and attach the rope to their bot. Over two minutes will incur a penalty of -3 points.
- If a robot goes out of bounds (off the board), a penalty will be incurred of -3 points.
