Scoring

Each event will have its own scoring scheme. Points will be totaled at the end to determine the winner.
Each round will start with a 'blow horn' which should autonomously activate the robots
Robots will be permitted modifications during sessions designated as "PIT stops" between events
Maximum of 20 minutes. Bonus points will be given for faster check-in with refs. Points will be lost for those robots that are late to the events.
Opening ceremony points will be awarded per scoring scheme TBD (AS)

Other Notes

An opening ceremony will precede the DC1 competition, details TBD (AS)
Teams will introduce themselves: the name, their flag, color, aesthetics, theme music (loud!), dance
Each team will receive an additional standard 'kit' from previous years' leftovers (wheels, servos, brik, etc.)
There will be prizes
You may challenge us...
Demand an explanation or justification of the rules... you may not get the answer you want, but it will become clear on Friday.
Information Sessions

Permitted materials and parts
Each team will receive a single Lego Mindstorm kit and 4 extra wheels
Use only parts in kit for the robot.
Teams are allowed to swap parts
Software is provided in the kit.
Teams may use any compatible software.
The design team will provide minimal support with "external" software.
Use of adhesive or permanent modification to the parts in the kit are NOT allowed
Batteries will be supplied by SDM
Teams may not spend more than $25 on additional items for the competition.

Practice / testing area
All courses will be available on Friday, Aug 24, 8 am.
A picture of the course will be posted on the wiki at 9pm, Thursday.

Pit area (stagging area)
Separate area but close to track
Each team will select two people as the pit crew members to be allowed in the pit area
The two people are permitted in the pit area to make changes to the robot with instructions from the officials for all events during competition

Competition
ONCE THE START BUTTON HAS BEEN PRESSED, the robot is not allowed influences such as:
Physically touching the robot
Visual, Bluetooth.

Team setup
Pick members and form team with diversified skills (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Hardware)
Each team must be comprised of no more than 2 people from any company.
Each team should have at least one computer software engineer and hardware engineer.
