This is the autonomous kayak in Singapore that will be has been instrumented with pressure sensors similar to Big Red.
Experiments to conduct, summer 2011
- Purpose
- Detection of flow separation at bow
- Detection of helical vortex
- Drag reduction during maneuvers
- Characterization of pressure field in real operating conditions
- Experiments to perform
- still water tests
- characterize pressure change across the bow for manevers at different speeds and circle radii
- could be done in Pandan Reservoir
- tow tests
- at NUS pool?
- reproduce Big Red constant angle of attack experiments
- ocean trials
- piggy back on the sea trials
- straight line motion in area with oblique current
- lawn mower waypoint navigation
- straight line motion with waves and no current
- still water tests
