Instructions for Installing and Running Click to Speak

Click to Speak uses Adobe AIR, so in theory runs on anything that can run AIR.  That being said, we've only tested it on PC and Mac.

  1. Your computer needs to have Adobe AIR for Click to Speak to run.  You can download it at http://get.adobe.com/air/
  2. Download ClickToSpeak_171.zip
  3. Install TextEditor3.air and ClickToSpeak.air (the text editor and the playable game, respectively).
  4. The sample XML file game.xml and the audio folder Draft_Record are saved in the sample folder. It is important that game.xml is saved in the same folder as Draft_Record for the sample game to run.
  5. To use the editor, run TextEditor3. The initial pop-up box is for filling in character names, and is really only useful when you're starting a new game file; otherwise, just click the Save button. You can view the dialogue tree for our sample game by choosing Open... in the File menu and opening game.xml.
  6. To play the game, run ClickToSpeak. Click Load Game and select game.xml as the game file. Click Start Game to play.

A text version of the test game, cts-script.docx, is also in the sample folder.

A Note for GAMBITeers:

You can also get the latest build out of Perforce.  It's in 2009/OneButton/Publish. Select the directory with the latest version number.  This will be updated more frequently than the wiki.
