In response to student demand for spaces where students can connect their laptops to a larger display, wired network, and keyboard or mouse, IS&T has created these 8 "laptop stations" as a pilot project for the 2011-12 academic year. In addition to students explicitly requesting spaces like these, IS&T staff frequently encountered Athena workstations with monitors, keyboards, mice, and network cables disconnected.
This was a joint venture of IS&T and ISTAB (the IS&T Student Technology Advisory Board).
That depends on feedback from students like you. If the project proves successful, we may add more stations in the future. If overall student feedback is negative, we will remove these stations in July 2012 and restore the original workstations.
