This copy should:

  1. Help orient the new arrival to what's on this page – its our early and scrappy set of cool and interesting people we know at MIT who we want others to know about. We would certainly like to keep enlisting new speakers – and we're planning to – but we'd love to know if there's anyone they'd like to learn from – or topics of interest...with CTA to feedback page...
  2. Make it clear that we'd love to get requests for new content/speakers with CTA to Feedback page
  3. Enlist people who have an expertise and want to share, with CTA to Get Involved page. Make it feel like we're happy to entertain working with anyone who's brave enough to share.

This is approved by Mark and ready to publish by Kelly. (Note...we'll defer the recommended CTA to 1.6 and put in QA list...)

As a temporary solution, we need to work with the PDF's we have :

Carve them up so we have the "front" and "back" of each card – and post.

From the full set of cards, we should only publish the following:

  • Copenhagen
  • Water savings
  • Fume hood
  • Biodiesel
  • Decreasing material footprint
  • Building 18
  • Bates turbine
  • Lifecycle analysis of lab gloves
  • Flood vulnerability

Resources  (star)

This copy is problematic. It's a giant wall of text. It's badly named as a page – what the hell is a "resource"? "Learn more"..."Learn"

Ideally we could chunk it up and portions would appear on the correct Topic page, in the right sidebar, as a series of quick intros, with anchor link to a more detailed summary on the Resources page.

This is basically a long-term challenge around how to present deeper learning content on the site – beyond the quick fire post, and the quick fire video.

Create a post - intro copy...Laura H

(blue star)

This copy should do the following:

  1. Help people understand what a post is – it's basically something topical that gets read by others in the community. It's like starting a conversation. We'll feature it in our newsletter if it's good.
  2. Make it clear that we want to hear from our community. Got something to share? Want to brag about an article you wrote? Do you want to start a conversation? Post it!
  3. When people post a comment – you'll get notified...
  4. Suggest that an image – if you've got one – make the post look better.
    Ellen to provide by 5.5
2 documents will be submitted here by Laura H:
-A community guideline doc for commenting (this will be a separate web page linked to on the commenting section)
-A very brief intro to posting a topic

Feedback form – intro copy

Submitted for feedback by Laura H here (5.7)

This copy should do the following:

  1. This is a general feedback area. We'll take suggestions, criticisms, requests – whatever!
  2. Make it clear that ClimateX is an experiment, we're scrappy and we like ourselvse that way. We want to try out new ideas. We want to hear from people.
  3. That we would like to know if people have a particular topic they'd like to hear about – that we will do our best to find an expert in that field and setup a podcast or webinar or interview.
  4. That if people want to work with us – we want to work with them. We are looking to recruit experts...with CTA to "get involved"
  5. Etc.
    - This covers most of what you asked for above (excluding point 4 as this would make it a repetition of the "Get involved/Work with Us" page, rather than a page for feedback. I think it's important to differentiate between the two.

This is approved by Mark 5.8 – Mike is creating the page, and we can add copy when he's done.

Topics Home PageLaura H

(blue star)(blue star)

We need a Topics Lander that will house the brief intros that we've created for each Topic.

This page needs a general introduction. It should accomplish the following:

  1. Help orient the viewer to the basic concept that we're using each topic page to help people learn about a given topic. There's posts, there's videos, and there's people who have made the posts or made comments.

Submitted by Laura H here. I've kept this very brief as the page is pretty self-explanatory and we don't want to over-crowd it.
