DOME Core Meeting Summary 9 September 2009
We discussed use cases for this metadata. Specifically DSpace as a search and browse interface. We identified the likelihood of using additional disseminations streams that will have their own descriptive and technical metadata requirements. These may prove to be as important for our core metadata set as Dspace's requirements.
Continue to look at formats, standards, and collections. Most of the standards are containers that do not define descriptive metadata for video. We haven't stumbled on any widely used, well document video descriptive metadat sets. This emphasizes the need to reach out to collections, to see what decisions they made.
Rob will think about a list of metadata colleagues at other institutions to query about video metadata.
Everyone will contact their assigned instiutions, and any other they can think of, to ask for their video metadata practices.
Look into AMIA best practices.
