Because project sponsors have limited time to be actively involved in a project, but have the ability to make decisions and remove roadblocks. It is the responsibility of the project manager to communicate with a project sponsor the project health, status of deliverables, risks and issues that need attention and action.
- Overall Status - Green (on plan), Yellow (Needs attention), Red (In trouble)
- Project Summary - Brief description of project, current state and overall health
- Executive Attention - List of items requiring review and action by the Sponsor
- Accomplishments - List of accomplishments for current phase since last sponsor report
- Upcoming milestones - Key tasks and activities planned until next sponsor meeting
- Issues - List of issues and proposed resolution if any
- Risks - List of risks and strategy for addressing each risk (accept, mitigate, transfer, avoid)
