Phase 1: Digitization and Data Capture
- Digitized and provided cataloguers with access to notebook images
- Digitized Museum images
- Selected films for digitization
- Completed metadata crosswalk between the collections
- Defined the Edgerton database
- Defined the architecture for a federated search
- Began to understand what assets are available and which we have to add
- Created an "In-Progress" site for Foundation members
- Formalize user requirements for June 2009 web site
- Begin to define copyright and usage statements
- To do: set up server hosting arrangements with IS&T
Phase 2: First website, roll-out June 2009
Users will be able to:
- Learn about Doc (website articles, images)
- View and read notebook pages
- Search across collections
- Login for users (simple identification)
- Transcribe notebook pages (wiki)
- Tell stories about their memories of Doc Edgerton (blog?)
- The same website will be available to visitors of the MIT Museum via public kiosks (July-Aug 2009).
Phase 3: Enhanced website in the future
- Full text search
- Capture user stories and images
- Annotate/tag assets (folksonomies)
