Headline: "BenQ Climbs to Number Two in Mid East LCD Market"

Digital Lifestyle Leader captures 18.9 per cent Market Share in Q4 2006, says Leading European Researcher

BenQ has extended its leadership position in the Middle East and African under 30-inch wide LCD monitor markets - according to research conducted by Context-Bryan Norris Associates, the leading European supplier of information on the monitor markets.

Significant market share and positioning have been earned by BenQ in the Middle East where they enjoy number two position with a market share of 18.9 per cent. According to quarter four results, BenQ is number one in Kuwait and Qatar, number two in Oman and Syria, number three in UAE and number four in Lebanon.

In the African continent, BenQ stands at third position with 12 per cent market share. As a result of special focus on emerging markets in the African region, BenQ is number three in South Africa and number one in Egypt with 74.8 per cent market share.

BenQ broke all records in Central Asia region where they emerged as number one with an impressive 25 per cent market share.

"These sales figures are a result of BenQ's continued commitment to innovation and design and highlight the confidence regional customers have in our products," said Manish Bakshi, General Manager, Middle East & Africa.

"Our award-winning wide LCD Monitors are extremely popular in the MENA and Central Asia regions where less than 30-inch wide monitors constitute 98 per cent of the total LCD monitor market. By leveraging our design and manufacturing expertise to introduce inventive, trendy and reasonably priced products, we have been able to cater to growing demand and break sales records regionally" added Bakshi.

New models launched in the region include 22" and 24" monitors with HDMI features. Both are targeted at gaming and professional users providing DVI and HDMI connectivity.  Also available in select models are S-Video / Composite inputs for enhancing user experience. BenQ will be one of the first LCD vendors to launch HDMI monitors in MEA region once again reinforcing the commitment in bringing the latest technologies to the region.

BenQ's recent regional launch of the world's fastest 19-inch LCD monitor - the FP94VW - targeted the Middle East's booming games consoles market, with the super-fast on-screen video response times proving a decisive attraction for gaming enthusiasts. The company will introduce a complete range of 17-inch, 19-inch, 20-inch, 22-inch & 24-inch high end products later this year.
