What information to give new graduates in their folders or via email around graduation is somewhat a matter of discretion. You should give them some sort of club welcome and information on rounds. It's a good idea to email these as well as give them the papers in the graduation folders. Another thing that should either go in packets or get talked about beforehand is how to transition to the club - club has all levels of dancers, you need to find your own partners, asking for help, practice, etc.

Current grad docs

As of Fall 2015, we have a new comprehensive set of graduation docs. You can see the Fall 2015 edition here. The individual pdfs of each section and the source files are in the locker (/mit/tech-squares/doc/grad/). You should at least glance over them. Two sections will need updating: the rounds coordinator list (also make sure tech-squares-rounds-coordinator@mit.edu is up to date) and EC members (in howtsworks). Check whatever changes you make in with cvs (ask another officer for help if needed).

These docs include:

  • a welcome to the club & explanation of email lists
  • information on getting better,  squaring up, and mention of shenanigans and 'what next' options
  • information on rounds (an update of the past rounds document)
  • explanation of gate, dance fees, list of EC officers, mention of club jobs, voting, and getting involved
  • brief history of TS (summarized from various other docs), list of other local clubs/conventions, list of online resources

Past grad docs

In the past, we gave a handout on the club, and a handout on rounds. At some points we also gave (detailed) handouts on dance/club history. Some of these are attached.
