The Problem:

For an election to be legitimate, it should represent the intention of all its voters. 21 states require post-election audits, and 17 others encourage them, in an effort to verify election results. Audit procedures involve a manual recount of votes. This process needs to be accurate and fast. Current manual processes are prone to errors like auditors counting ballots multiple times or skipping over ballots. An audit involves the recount of every single vote, a tedious and time-consuming process. Post-election audits could be made more efficient.
