DON'T DO THIS YET -- NOT COMPLETE!

Step 1: Installing an SSH program (Windows only)

  1. Go to the Putty download page at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
  2. Download both putty.exe and puttygen.exe

Step 2: Installing a SCP program (Windows only)

  1. Go to the WinSCP download page at http://winscp.net/eng/download.php
  2. Download the installation package (it should be called winscp513setup.exe)
  3. Run the installer to install WinSCP

Step 3: Unix Tutorial (skip if you're comfortable on a unix system)

  1. Complete tutorials 1, 2, 3, and 5.1-5.2 from http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Unix/ as they will be directly relevant to the lesson.
  2. To follow along, you can use the Mac terminal if you're on a Mac. Otherwise, you can log into the computer in the testing instructions (linked below) to practice.
  3. Definitely do more of the tutorial if you're interested -- it's super useful to know how to get around a unix system!
