Problem Statement:

If you live off campus, it can be sometimes be too much of a hassle to get rides to/from campus. The saferide is one attempt to solve this problem but there are many other alternative methods of getting between campus and where you live - catching a ride with someone, riding bikes, sharing a cab or even walking back with someone. At ZBT, attempts to take advantage of these alternatives are usually in the form of emails that go unanswered - and are thus ineffective. We are aiming to create a way to make the process of figuring out how to get to/from the ZBT house easier.

GR1 Analysis:

User Analysis

This will be targeted mainly at 2 distinct user groups that vary in terms of their knowledge if the possible ways to get to/ from ZBT:

  • Brothers
  • Non-Brothers

Task analysis

Possible tasks include:

  • Checking for any possible rides
  • Reserving a spot on a ride
  • Offering a ride
  • Requesting a ride
  • Looking for someone else planning on walking/ catching saferide/ sharing a cab
  • Modifying a previously scheduled ride has been cancelled

What to Hand In

For this assignment, you need to create a page for your project on the class wiki. Each group assignment will add more information to your group's wiki page over the semester. By the end of the semester, your wiki page will constitute the final report for your project.

The wiki is accessible from the course web page. The homepage of the wiki has instructions for creating your project page and linking it from the wiki homepage.

Your project page should include the following parts:

  • Group members - DoneA list of your group members. Students who are not registered for credit are not permitted to participate in the group project. All members of your group must be registered for the class by the time this assignment is due.
  • Problem statementBriefly state the problem(s) that your project will seek to solve. Take the user's point of view. Consider what the user's goals are, and what obstacles lie in the way.
  • GR1 AnalysisWrite up your user analysis and task analysis clearly, concisely, and completely. Put your GR1 Analysis on a new page of the wiki, with a link to it from your main project page.
