Welcome to the home page of the MIT Department of Ocean Engineering Towing Tank. Originally designed as a classical ship model towing tank and equipped with a wavemaker, the Towing Tank was refurbished in 1989 with a low friction, high-strength carriage. The tank is now used for experimental ocean engineering studies as well as traditional resistance and seakeeping studies. |
