Colette just returned to her dorm room with a great idea for the robot. She, John, and Rajiv are teammates in the 2.270, Collaborative Robot Design. She checks her pocket communications agent and sees that Rajiv is in the lab - great, he's probably workig on the robot now! She activates the agent and says, "Speak; Rajiv; robot idea; now." In the lab, Rajiv is listening to Prof. Slocum review options for robot drive systems. Rajiv responds on his laptop computer by typing, "talking w/prof - will you be there 4 a while?" Colette responds by saying, "Send text reply; Rajiv; yes; now."
After the review Rajiv walks over and puts his laptop on their lab bench. The bench display activates and displays his contact list. He wonders why John isn't online but selects Colette and talk. Colette answers and starts discussing her idea with Rajiv as she walks back down the hall to her dorm room. As Rajiv activates the bench camera and directs it toward their robot the image from the lab appears on display wall in Collete's room. While describing her idea she sketches on the image. Collete's idea reminds Rajiv of an design from last years class and they both watch a video of that robot's failure mode. They retreive thier sketch, annotate it with a description of the change they think they should make and send it John.
John finishes dinner with Mary and as she heads home he walks into one of the communications booths in the student center. He sees the message from his teammates and thinks about their modification. "This is great!", he thinks. Seeing that Colette and Rajiv are still on line he says, "Let's meet in the lab and try it."
