Mission 2011: Solving Complex Problems (12.000) is designed to provide students the opportunity to work as part of a team to propose solutions to a complex problem that requires an interdisciplinary approach. The students of the class of 2011 have spent the semester creating a comprehensive and cohesive solution to address the vast number of issues facing the oceans and fisheries of the world.

The class is primarily led by students, who choose the direction and schedule of the program. Students are given final deadlines, Undergraduate Teaching Fellows (past Mission students), Alumni mentors, and one semester to solve a problem as vast as the oceans themselves.

Mission 2011 would not have been possible without the support and guidance of the following people:

Professor Sam Bowring
Ari Epstein
Mariela Perignon
Debra Aczel
Ruth Weinberg
UTFs
Alumni Mentors
