or - Plug your iPhone or Ipad into your machine and open up iTunes. When iTunes open, navigate to your iPhone or Ipad page where it displays name, capacity, phone number, serial. Click on Serial and it should change to UDID, right click on the UDID, and select Copy Identifier (UDID). Paste it into an email message and send it to ####@mit.edu.
For example: - Your UDID should look something like this: 7f6c8dc83d77134b5a3a1c53f1202b395b04482b
It's very important that this number is complete and correct. Please double-check prior to sending it to me. DO NOT attempt to install iOS 8 beta on your iPhone until I reply back to you confirming I've registered your UDID. - Important: For the IPad you will also need to send the model number, This is engraved on the back of the iPad in small letters under "iPad". We want to make sure that this is Wi-Fi only or if it includes cellular, which carrier.

- Assuming you've already backed up your iPhone as mentioned above, you've downloaded the appropriate version of iOS 8 for your iPhone, I've told you your device is registered, proceed to unpacking/mounting the beta image by double-clicking on the .dmg file.
- Plug your iPhone into your computer and open iTunes.
- Open the iPhone page in iTunes. Hold down Alt/Option (on your Mac keyboard; hold down Shift if on Windows) and click on Restore iPhone.... Now select the .ipsw beta file within the mounted dmg and select Open. Allow the restore to complete.
- After the restore has completed and the iPhone has reconnected to iTunes, restore from a backup, if you desire.
If you're using iTunes for backup, choose the Restore Backup... option in iTunes. Select the backup you created prior to installing the iOS 8 beta. This will restore your iPhone information. If you're using iCloud for backup, use the Restore from iCloud Backup option after iOS 8 installation is complete and the device reboots into iOS 8.
