Using Mobile Devices at MIT:
Palm OS Devices (Treo 650, Treo 680, Treo 700p, T|X, etc.): Palm OS devices are popular at MIT. However, the future of the OS is uncertain as Palm OS had been virtually at a stand-still since 2004 with the exception of minor updates. Most industry experts believe that the Palm OS will phase out over the next couple of years.
Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC (Treo 700w, Treo 700wx, Treo 750, VZW XV 6700, Sprint PPC 6700, etc.): In February 2007, Microsoft release Windows Mobile 6 Professional (which will replace Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC). Some of the older devices may be upgradable to Windows Mobile 6 Professional via the carrier.
Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone (Motorola Q, T-Mobile Dash, Samsung BlackJack, etc.): In February 2007, Microsoft release Windows Mobile 6 Standard (which will replace Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone). Some of the older devices may be upgradable to Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone via the carrier.
Other Devices: RIM BlackBerry Devices
Other Devices: Symbian Devices (Nokia E61, E62, etc.)
