Problem Statement

Many brides-to-be plan their own weddings, but they do not have the experience of a professional wedding planner. One aspect of wedding planning that is particularly stressful is figuring out a timeline (when to send invitations, book venues, contact caterers, finalize the guest list, etc). Currently, many brides-to-be rely on wedding websites, such as theknot.com, to determine their wedding tasks and timeline. However, these websites provide general, encyclopedia-style articles, rather than personalized information that is easy to apply to their unique situation. The biggest obstacle that brides-to-be face during their wedding planning process is customizing a timeline to fit their needs. In addition, they find it difficult to incorporate feedback from all of the involved parties (fiance, family members, wedding party) at each stage of the timeline

GR1 - User and Task Analysis

In communal living spaces, facilities such as laundry machines are often used by multiple people. Often, the number of machines is limited, and there are not enough dryers or washers for all those who want to use the laundry at a particular time. Users do not have a reliable way to check several aspects of the laundry facility without being present in the laundry room:

• Whether any machines are open
• How long the wait time is to start a new load of laundry
• Whether the user's laundry is finished
• Whether any machines are broken

Even though they might be present in the facility, some information is not available to them. This information includes:

• Who owns the laundry occupying a machine which has finished running
• What dryer settings should be used if wet laundry is to be moved to a dryer
• Who is the facility administrator (to be contacted if a machine is out of order)

We plan to create a website that allows users to set up a laundry checking system. It will provide automatic notifications to users when their laundry finishes, allow users to leaves notes with laundry care instructions, and give users a way to view the current status of all laundry machines remotely.
