h4. {color:black} This Wiki serves as a resource for members of the MIT community to create a platform sharing our interests and projects pertaining to Virtual Worlds. This is a home for ideas about virtual worlds and their potential for exploring learning, engineering, science and ourselves at MIT.

h2. Mission
h4. {color:black} The OEIT sponsors research and development within virtual worlds in order to serve two primary goals:

1. Support MIT's institute-wide initiative to provide international experiences for our students by exploiting virtual worlds to foster community among globally dispersed students, enabling them to stay in touch with colleagues and faculty.

2. Leverage the capabilities of virtual worlds to expand educational innovations and opportunities for MIT students, through engagement with existing resources and creating new ones.

h3. March 13, 2009:
h4. {color:black} In response to our successful IAP series [+"Virtual Worlds at MIT"+| http://web.mit.edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/oeit-projects/IAP-VW/index.html], the OEIT will be producing a presentation of work and panel discussion by two interactive media artists. This session will take place on April 29th from 11am - 1pm. Location and details to follow.
