# Files with "Symbol Test" in their name:

# Files with "Column" or "Row" in their name:

## +Column+ files are testing files that have multiple special characters all with the same format for upload testing. So, items viewed in Thalia Info screen show multiple symbols.
This is a good test to see multiple symbols all in the same format quickly on a single item info screen.
This is not a good test to verify a single symbol in multiple formats, as tester would have to verify on multiple item Info screens.

# How to use Spreadsheets to create metadata.txt file for bulk upload:
## Spreadsheets with "zip_SymbolTest_MetadataTxt..." in their name are spreadsheet created to generate metadata.txt files quickly and make changes quickly without manual entry. Open the desired spreadsheet, make changes if needed, save the file and then save the file as tab delimited.

## +Specific steps+:

### Open desired spreadsheet

### Optional - make data changes

### If data changes were made, save spreadsheet (normally as XLS)

## +To generate file for upload testing+:

### Go to File > Save As...

### In the 'Save as type' pull-down field select "Text (Tab delimited)"

### Close the spreadsheet

### Rename the newly created TXT file "metadata.txt"

### Click and drag metadata.txt file to the zip file (Zip_SymbolTest_BulkWithMetadataTxt.zip), following Zip steps

## +To upload in Thalia+:

### Select Library for upload and click Upload File button

### On Upload Image screen select Upload Multiple files link

### On Bulk Upload screen click 'Browse...' and select the zip file

### Under Metadata section click 'Include in zip archive' radio button. 'Name of Metadata file' field should default to 'metadata.txt'.

### Click Upload button.
