MIT health insurance does not cover the purchase of glasses or contact lenses. However, WHOI's Environmental Health and Safety Office will reimburse you for the purchase of prescription safety glasses if eye protection is needed for your research. The reimbursement is up to $180 per year (a pair of safety glasses with high index lenses cost $152 in 2011).
