The MIT men's varsity volleyball team has a big game coming up next week against Harvard. We have played Harvard many times and have collected stats of these games using SETistics. Several weeks before the match, the coach uses SETistics to study the aggregate data from the previous matches against Harvard. This gives the coach a good idea of what the next game will be like and he/she uses this information to develop a training plan over the next few practices. The day of the game, the MIT team keeps track of stats using SETistics and observes many of the tendencies they had discovered from watching the previous games, but they also notice new patterns that had not surfaced before. SETistics is able to give the coach real-time information about these tendencies, thus allowing the coach to make key strategic decisions that lead to the eventual defeat of Harvard! After the game, statistics are once again analyzed and these go into figuring out what to focus on throughout the following practices.
