These instructions are for Apache Tomcat 7.0.29.  At the time when these instructions were written, 7.0.29 was the most current version of Tomcat.  If you are looking for an archieve version of Tomcat, go to the Apache Apache Tomcat download site.  Scroll down until you reach the Quick Navigation section and click on Archives.  Select the version of Tomcat the you want, then click on bin and select the Tomcat format for your and save the downloaded file to your workstation.

Download and Install Tomcat 7

  1. Go to the Apache Apache Tomcat download site.  Scroll down until you reach the 7.0.29 section.  Under Binary Distributions Core:, select the format for your OS and save the downloaded file to your workstation.
  2. Unzip/untar the binaries to a new folder (e.g. c:\maven\2.2.1).
  3. Add the path to the Maven bin directory to the system PATH environment variable.  For example: add c:\maven\2.2.1\bin to the PATH environment variable.
  4. Verify the Maven installation by opening a CMD window and typying the command line: mvn --version.  If everything is correct, something similar to the following should be displayed:
