Notes from meeting with Jenn Morris and Ann Marie Willer on 10/27/10:

  • What happens to the theses after they have been scanned? - Jenn assumes they will be discarded since Archives has a copy.
  • Jenn notes that color scanning of the theses did not start until after 2008.  Any theses scanned prior to this date in DSpace may be in black and white only, also may not be OCRed if considerably older.
  • Rotch keeps theses in alpha order not in department/yr order
  • Document Services can only handle 5 boxes at a time.  All other boxes will go to LSA.  Jenn then requests the remaining boxes as they work through the project.
  • Document Services could not be reasonably ready until December 2nd.  However, there is a lot to do prior to Document Services so this is okay.   Shelf pull and withdrawal has to happen prior to Document Services.
  • Ann Marie, Jenn, and Beverly recommend starting with Media Arts & Sciences since it is a smaller batch to test new process.
