2008 Activities

  • Program Management Office special interest group (SIG) -- a component of the Project Management Institute.  Darlene Fladager has been appointed to serve as the Director of Analytics to support the review and expansion of SIG membership. 
  • Town of North Andover, Massachusetts Information Technology Consolidation Task Force -- Kathy Pagones O'Neill has been appointed to serve on this 2008/2009 task force chartered with identifying IT consolidation opportunities across municipal and school departments, and a corresponding implementation plan and budget. 
  • Boston Consortium:  IT/Libraries Communications and Outreach Group -- Christine Fitzerald continued to work with facilitator at the Consortium to host meetings in March and June 2008. 
  • Learning Tree International: Steve Winig participated in the development and review of Learning Tree International's new class entitled Relationship Management for IT Professionals.  http://www.learningtree.com/courses/902.htm.
  • Relationship/Account Management Community of Practice: Steve Winig continued as the chair of this group of leaders of Relationship Management and Account Management programs within both university and industry environments.
  • Greater Boston Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (GBC/ACM http://www.gbcacm.org): This is the Boston chapter of an international professional society for people interested in computer science and the theory and practice of computer technology. One evening a month, it provides lectures on computer-related topics. These are open to the public and free. (A number of them are held on the MIT campus.)

  • Boston Chapter of the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE/CS): This is the Boston chapter of an international professional society. The Society is dedicated to advancing the theory, practice, and application of computer and information processing technology. One evening a month, it provides lectures on computer-related topics. These are open to the public and free. (A number of them are held on the MIT campus.)

  • Northeast Community Source PMO - Steve Winig is a founding member of this newly created group of leaders of Project Management Offices (or equivalent) across higher-education.  This group intends to adhere to the mantra of "think globally, act locally," by working collaboratively to ensure the development, distribution, communication, and continuous improvement of project and portfolio management concepts and tools.  While the focus will be on enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the member organizations offices, relevant information will also shared with a broader audience.
