Discussion of Bibliographic Software and RISG

  • Wiki Markup
A new web guide has been created to provide an overview of bibliographic software, along with a new page for Zotero.  Remlee will send out drafts of the pages for comments. This guide has a chart of information that can be useful for comparing products. The categories used for comparison could also be useful when looking at new products that come along. \[Update: the pages are now live at [http://libraries.mit.edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/help/bibliography/index.html].\]
  • The group discussed RISG's role in the discovery, evaluation, and promotionof promotion of bibliographic software.  The Libraries currently support RefWorks and EndNote, with one overall expert, Howard Silver, but it would be a benefitfor benefit for the Libraries to know more about bibliographic software overall.  There are so many available programs that it would be very time-consuming and not productive to evaluate all of them.  As RISG members learn of new programs that seem promising or are generating a lot of interest with users they should alert Remlee who can explore further.
