Installation Instructions

Panel

(info) These will not be the final installation procedures. The MPOP team has chosen not to invest extra time and energy into generating custom installers. The final installation procedure will be streamlined.

ESET

Windows

  1. Remove any antivirus software that may currently be installed on your machine.
  2. Download the appropriate MSI of ESET for your architecture
  3. Double click the MSI file and accept all the default prompts.
  4. Once ESET is installed, right-click on the eye icon in the taskbar and select "Advanced Setup..."
  5. Expand the "Tools" section and select "Remote Administration"


  6. Check the box "Connect to Remote Administration Server"; set the interval to "0"; and enter "eset.mit.edu" as the server address; click "OK"


  7. Your ESET client will now contact our Console and pickup a license

OS X

  1. Remove any antivirus software that may currently be installed on your machine
  2. Download the file named "eset-mit.zip" and expand its contents
  3. Move the files named "esets_remote_install.pkg" and "esets_setup.sh" to your Desktop
  4. Open Terminal.app and run the following command: mv ~/Desktop/esets_setup.sh /tmp
  5. Open Terminal.app and run the following command: sudo installer -pkg ~/Desktop/esets_remote_install.pkg -target /
  6. ESET will now silently install in the background. When you see the green ESET icon in the menubar, the install has completed (approx. time to complete: 120 seconds)

    (info) Note: This package – esets_remote_install.mpkg – can be pushed to clients with Apple Remote Desktop.

Microsoft

Windows

  1. Remove any antivirus software that may currently be installed on your machine
  2. Download the file named "mit-forefront.zip" and expand its contents
  3. Right-click on the file named "install.bat" and click "Run As Administrator..."
  4. Click through the installer accepting the default options
  5. The installation should complete in approximately five minutes

Sophos

Windows

  1. Download sophos-win.zip and expand its contents
  2. In the folder "SAVSCFXP" run "setup.exe" accepting the default prompts

OS X

  2. Download sophos-mac.zip and expand its contents
  3. In the folder "ESCOSX" run "Sophos Anti-Virus.mpkg" accepting the default prompts
